Yes, these cakes are edible!  The decorations are made with gumpaste (a sugar dough that dries very hard), fondant (a sugar dough that stays softer, although can harden over a very long period of time), and buttercream.

There may be non-edible supports within your cake.  These are to help with defying gravity to add realism to your special cake!
